KNXSENSE › Supported recorders

Supported recorders.

The KNXSENSE recorder is software installed on a device connected to the KNX system on site. The recorder reads the KNX bus and sends telegrams to KNXSENSE.

KNXSENSE works the same way whichever device you choose. The device name links to its page.

KNX Data Secure. If the recorder is itself a Secure device and decrypts the protected traffic, the decrypted telegram appears in KNXSENSE just as it is. If it is not, a protected telegram is still not left out of the recording: Data Secure encrypts the payload, not the addresses, so the sender, the destination address and the time are recorded, but not the value. Secure support for the Raspberry Pi and the computer is on the way.

ETS tunnel slots. If the recorder reserves a slot, ETS has one fewer. The Raspberry Pi and the computer use an external KNX/IP gateway: when it offers multicast routing, the recording reserves no slots at all. Otherwise the recorder reserves one slot per line — never the last free one. The Tunnel slots on the device column shows how many slots the device itself offers to ETS; a dash means either that the manufacturer does not state a number or that the device is not a KNX/IP gateway.

Can’t find your device? A Raspberry Pi, or a Windows or macOS computer, also works as a recorder. Either one reads the bus through any KNX/IP gateway, so the manufacturer of the gateway on site does not matter.
